Raoof Hasan, a spokesperson for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has recently indicated that the party is ready to engage in talks with Pakistan’s military establishment to resolve the ongoing political deadlock. Hasan emphasized that this dialogue is necessary for the country’s political stability, given the military’s significant influence in Pakistan. He also suggested that the path to resolving the current crisis lies in recognizing PTI’s mandate, either through judicial processes or fresh elections.
Hasan highlighted that PTI does not seek to involve the military in politics but recognizes the need to communicate with them due to their current power. He also mentioned that the PTI has already formed a committee over a year and a half ago to facilitate these discussions, although no official contact has been made yet. The party also plans to launch a nationwide movement starting September 8, with or without official permission.
On the other hand, PTI’s stance has drawn criticism from other political leaders, particularly from the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), who accuse PTI of trying to regain power through the military rather than through democratic means.
