Maulana’s meeting with the President and Prime Minister, is PTI nervous?
The recent meetings between Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the President, and the Prime Minister of Pakistan have stirred significant political discussions. These meetings are being interpreted by some as a sign of concern for the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) due to the potential for shifting alliances.
Sources suggest that the government, particularly the ruling coalition, is uneasy about the possibility of a PTI-JUI-F (Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl) alliance. This concern stems from the fact that such an alliance could create a formidable opposition front, especially as the JUI-F has been increasingly vocal against the current government, even going so far as to label the 2024 elections as fraudulent.
However, JUI-F’s official stance remains that they are not interested in joining the government, maintaining their position as a critical yet independent force. The meetings appear to be part of a broader strategy by the government to prevent this potential alliance from solidifying, as they fear it could lead to significant political challenges.
