The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) reported that this weather system, located approximately 170 km southeast of Karachi, is expected to develop into a cyclonic storm by the evening of August 30, 2024. This storm, named “Asna,” is likely to bring heavy rainfall, strong winds, and potential flooding to various regions, including Karachi, Thatta, Badin, and parts of Balochistan.
Residents are advised to stay indoors and avoid unnecessary movement, while fishermen are warned against venturing into the sea due to rough conditions. Schools in Karachi were closed on August 30 as a precautionary measure. The PMD is closely monitoring the situation and will continue to provide updates as the storm progresses.
