Today, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is holding a major rally at Sangjani in Islamabad. The district administration has implemented strict security measures, including road blockades and heightened police presence to manage the crowd and ensure safety. Roads leading to Islamabad, such as GT Road and key routes to the Red Zone, have been blocked with containers. This has caused significant disruption in traffic, especially between Islamabad and Rawalpindi, despite the provision of alternate routes. Public services, including the metro bus, have been suspended in parts of the city to prevent any unrest.
Security concerns were further heightened after police recovered a suspicious bag containing explosive materials near the rally venue, prompting additional precautions from law enforcement. Authorities have deployed a heavy contingent of police, rangers, and paramilitary forces at the event site and throughout the capital.
The rally, scheduled from 4:00 to 7:00 PM, comes under strict conditions set by the Islamabad administration, including the requirement that participants return home the same night. Speeches inciting violence or promoting religious hatred are strictly prohibited. The rally follows a delay from its original date due to security concerns.
