Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) is currently seeking support from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for the upcoming Senate elections. JUI-F has demanded two Senate seats in exchange for their support in parliamentary matters. However, PTI is only willing to back one JUI-F candidate, leading to ongoing negotiations between the two parties.
The situation is further complicated by opposition from the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), which is backing its own candidate, Talha Mahmood, who recently defected from JUI-F to join PPP. JUI-F’s leader, Maulana Fazlur Rehman, has expressed hope for reaching a consensus with PTI despite acknowledging significant differences between the two parties.
The PTI delegation, led by Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, met with Maulana Fazlur Rehman to discuss these matters, but no final agreement has been reached as PTI is consulting with its leadership, including Imran Khan.
